Incorporating Photos into your Christmas

December 17, 2018

I thought I would share some of my favorite ways to incorporate photos into your holiday season. As I’m sure you can imagine, I take a lotta pictures every holiday season and sadly for there while most of them lived on my phone or on a hardrive never to see the light of day again. 😔

If you follow me on Instagram - which you should - you know my recent obsession with my Christmas Chatbooks. I have a whole series of videos on them in my saved IG stories if you're interested.

But maybe you don't have the shelf space for a whole bunch of (totes amazing) books or you wanted something you could incorpate before Christmas arrives next week?

Several I saw some ingenious person on the interwebs made a memory tree. Basically you print your photos, stick them in frames and then hot glue ribbon on the back, hang it on a tree and tada! A photo memory tree! Ingenius, right?!?

Our family photo memory tree lives on a straggly clearance tree in the dining room and every year I print photos from the previous year and add them. We're up to 9 years of photos now!  I'm going to need a bigger tree soon!

I added the year to the bottom of the photo in Photoshop but you could just write it on the back with a Sharpie and call it good. These frames were purchased Michaels a few years ago but I’ve even seen similar frames at the Dollar Tree.

Each year when I decorate this tree it’s like a little trip down memory lane AND my kids love seeing themselves when they were "little".

Another way I use photos is as the actual gift tags on our gifts. I go through and find my favorite pictures of each family member and get a giant stack of photos printed.

This year I was on a time crunch so I left the photo plain and chose a simple white border but some years I‘ve made them look like old Polaroid pictures for a touch of fun.

Wrap up your present, add a fun ribbon or a bow and a scotch tape that bad boy on and you have yourself some awesome, completely personalized gift tags. Plus, if your kiddos want to be big helpers and pass the gifts out but cant yet um... read, picture gift tags make it so much easier! Plus they're really really cute.

Half the time our kids spend giggling over the pictures rather than unwrapping the gifts! And bonus: depending on how you crazy Christmas info you get you may be able to save the pictures for a photo box or album after Christmas is over.

Anywho, I hope these simple ideas deals have inspired you to rescue your photos from your phone and hard drive and to give them a purpose during this holiday season! Have the merriest of Christmases and a Happy New Year! See you in 2019!
